A depiction of the Ankou, or Grim Reaper. It was the personification of death in the Breton, Cornish, and Norman folklore. Acrylic paint on 5 x 7 inch canvas. The lettering on the bottom is in silver leafing.

I love your spin on the hood. Usually you see him/her/it wearing a pointed hood, but the way this soft shaped version blankets the skull makes it all seem...gentle. An interesting contrast in tone.
